Meizu Reveals Flyme 5 Update Plans For Older Devices

Meizu is one of the most interesting China-based smartphone manufacturers at the moment, and one of the fastest growing ones as well. This company has released a couple of devices this year, and pretty much all of them are really compelling, and affordable at the same time. Meizu has managed to increase their profits by 540% in the second quarter this year (compared to the same period last year), which is commendable. The company has actually released two flagships this year, the Meizu MX5 and PRO 5, and the latter one actually the latest one, and also the most powerful device this company has ever released.

That being said, Meizu has unveiled their Flyme 5 Android skin a while back, but only the Chinese version of this skin is available, and only on Meizu MX5 and PRO 5 handsets. The international variant of the OS is due to arrive soon, and as we wait for that, Meizu has released some additional news regarding the Chinese variant of Flyme 5 for a number of their previously released devices. The company shared additional info on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, saying that the update will be rolling out to Meizu MX4, MX4 Pro and M1 Note before the Sprint Festival in February next year. For those of you who simply cannot wait until February, you’ll be able to install the beta version of the OS on the aforementioned devices starting tomorrow. You won’t be able to update your device to beta version via Wi-Fi, of course, you’ll have to manually install them on the phone. Keep in mind that the beta versions of the OS might be buggy, which is understandable, so if you’re using your Meizu phone as a daily driver, you might want to think twice before you install the update.

Unfortunately, Meizu did not mention anything regarding international Flyme 5.0 update for either of their devices. As already mentioned, the update is expected to arrive to Meizu MX5 and PRO 5 before the end of this month, but we cannot confirm that at the moment, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
