HTC has released quite a few high-end devices this year, including their One M9 flagship. The company’s sales aren’t going that well, and they’re trying to find a way to fix that. The announcement of the One A9 handset which occurred back in September helped HTC improve their sales numbers, but this is only a short time solution. The company’s upcoming One X9 handset has surfaced a couple of times thus far, not only did its render leaked, but the device has also been certified by both TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), and the phone has also passed through the Wi-Fi certification.
That being said, new One X9 images have surfaced, and this time around we get a proper look at the device. It is worth mentioning that these images go hand-in-hand with the render which leaked a while back. The One X9 resembles the One A9 to some extent, but this handset does not sport a physical home button below the display. HTC has opted to include three capacitive buttons here instead, the back, home and overview buttons, respectively. There are two speaker grills located on the front side of this phone, which could suggest that we’ll get two front facing speakers (BoomSound) here, which was to be expected. As far as the phone’s back goes, it is rather similar to the One A9’s, but the camera has been moved to the upper left corner of the phone’s back, and the Nexus 6P-like design is applied around it. This handset will be made out of metal, or so it seems.
According to previous leaks, the One X9 will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card). The device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, and a 13-megapixel shooter will be located on the back along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front, and for some reason Android 5.0.2 Lollipop has also been mentioned. Now, it is to be expected Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, and it is safe to assume that it will, despite what the leaks might say. The One A9 has launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, so it is to be expected same will happen with the One X9. Now, keep in mind that this is HTC’s upcoming mid-ranger, and the company’s flagship should follow soon after.
