OnePlus iPhone Case Comes Complete With OnePlus X Invite

Chinese smartphone company OnePlus had thus far restricted its branded accessory business to its own phones, but apparently that’s not going to be the case anymore. According to a posting on the company’s official website, the company has now started offering a limited edition protective hard case for Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6s. Anybody who buys the case will also get an invite for the company’s latest release, the OnePlus X mid-range smartphone. While most of the invites will be for the regular version of the handset, some of the invites will be for the recently unveiled zirconia ceramic version of the device. The interesting thing is that some of the cases will apparently ship with a code to get a OnePlus X completely free.

As for the case itself, it is priced at $19.99 and will be available without an invite. The case is made out of polycarbonate, with the company’s signature textured ‘sandstone’ finishing. It comes with an OnePlus logo on the back and a “Get a grip. #NeverSettle” message on the inside. According to the product listing page, “The OnePlus Sandstone case for iPhone will not magically solve all your problems. But it’s a sturdy polycarbonate construction that adds both protection and grippiness, plus it feels good. Really, it’s one of those things that you don’t understand until you try it”. OnePlus had earlier launched cases and covers for its OnePlus X smartphone. The pricing for those accessories start at $8 and go up to $23. The company has also launched a $100 leather case for the OnePlus X that’s handcrafted by premium accessories maker Hard Graft and made out of genuine Tuscan leather.

Given the fierce rivalry that exists between Apple and Android fans, it may be surprising that an Android OEM will actually sell accessories for the iPhone, but the marketing department of OnePlus is known to pull seemingly out-there stunts from time to time, a lot of which are far more controversial than this particular venture will ever be. It remains to be seen however, if iPhone users actually turn to OnePlus for their accessory needs. For that matter, how many of them might have even heard of OnePlus, seeing as the brand still remains a niche one for the most part.
