Samsung launched their mobile payment system a while ago, and it has been quite successful. Still, mobile payments are not very popular just yet. Samsung Pay is accepted in many stores, as it is not only compatible with NFC, but also MST technology, which makes it compatible with older credit card terminals, so retailers don’t need to upgrade to the newer ones. The company has been promoting their mobile payment system by touring some cities and showing users how easy it is to set up and use, plus they also get a few discounts or exclusive promotion. Samsung Pay will be expanding to additional regions starting next year.
Now, the company will be demoing Samsung Pay in 50 malls in the US, plus they will get the chance to win a 4-day/3-night trip to Los Angeles to see platinum-selling recording artist Usher in a live performance. There will be kiosks in some of the country’s most popular malls, where users will be able to activate the service with their credit or debit cards and even some gift cards supported by Samsung Pay. To get a chance to win, users should visit one of the participating locations from December 10 to December 21 and they could win the round trip for two to Los Angeles, including hotel accommodations and tickets for the New Year’s Eve concert and a party. Users just need to register and the winners will be notified by email. The Samsung Pay mall experiences will be available through January 10, so users get a chance to try the service and win gift cards for several retailers among other rewards.
It is unknown which devices will be compatible with Samsung Pay, as this service is currently supported only by the company’s flagship phones such as the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. The company has already mentioned that additional devices will support this service, including some mid-range offerings like the new generation Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, although those might only be compatible with NFC technology.
