Xiaomi’s products have been leaking left and right recently. Pretty much everyone knows that Xiaomi is expected to release their Mi 5 flagship smartphone in the coming weeks, and according to the latest info, the company will do that on January 21st. The Mi 5 is not the only device Xiaomi is currently working on, the company’s notebook has leaked several times in the last couple of days, and Inventec has basically confirmed that a 12.5-inch model will be available to consumers in April next year.
That being said, Xiaomi has recently introduced the Redmi Note 3 smartphone and Mi Pad 2 tablet to consumers, and it seems like another one of their affordable offerings will be released soon. The Xiaomi ‘Kenzo’ has popped up on Geekbench and shared its partial specifications. According to the listing, this smartphone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 617 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The phone will also pack in 2GB of RAM, and Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on it with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of Google’s operating system. The device was able to score 1,420 points in the single-core, and 3,420 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench.
Now, by the looks of it, this is one of Xiaomi’s mid-range offerings, but which one? Well, it is possible that this is the successor to the Redmi 2 handset which was announced back in January. The Redmi 2 was actually initially announced sporting 1GB of RAM, but the 2GB variant came later in the year. That handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor, and it is possible that Xiaomi is looking to boost its specs. We cannot confirm that the Xiaomi ‘Kenzo’ is actually the Redmi 3, but the timeframe fits, and its specs as well.
Either way, this smartphone is expected to be announced in the coming weeks, and we’ll almost certainly going to see more leaks soon. This smartphone will be quite affordable, so keep that in mind. We’ll report back as soon as additional info surfaces, stay tuned.
