Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 2 mid-ranger back in August this year. The Redmi Note 2 was long rumored, and it was announced almost a year and a half after the first Redmi Note smartphone. That being said, the Redmi Note 2 Pro handset has been rumored for weeks now, and it was basically supposed to be the metal variant of the Redmi Note 2 with a fingerprint scanner on the back. Well, Xiaomi has decided to change the name of this smartphone prior to the event, and thanks to the company, we knew that it will be called the Redmi Note 3. Well, Xiaomi’s press conference is currently ongoing, and the company has just unveiled the device, read on.
The Redmi Note 3 is made out of metal, as already mentioned, and it sports a fingerprint scanner (unlocks in only 0.3 seconds) on the back. This smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display (Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top) along with 2 or 3GB of RAM (both variants will be available) and 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The 2GB RAM (LPDDR3) variant ships with 32GB of internal storage, while the 3GB RAM model comes with 64GB of storage on the inside. Interesting enough, Xiaomi has decided to include a 4,000mAh battery inside the Redmi Note 3, which is actually something we did not expect. Despite the fact they’ve included such a big battery on the inside, the phone is still relatively thin, it’s only 8.65mm thick.
This handset is fueled by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of the Redmi Note 3, and Xiaomi says it can autofocus in only 0.1 seconds. The 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front (wide-angle lens), and you do get 4G LTE connectivity here. The Redmi Note 3 will also ship with two SIM card slots on the inside, and will be available in Silver, Gold and Dark Grey color options. The handset comes with Xiaomi’s Android 5.1-based MIUI 7 OS pre-installed, in case you were wondering. What about pricing? Well, the cheaper Redmi Note 3 variant is priced at 899 Yuan ($141) in China, while the more expensive one costs 1,099 Yuan ($172).
