ZTE Officially Announces Axon Max, Company's Latest Phablet

ZTE has released a number of really interesting devices this year, and their new ‘Axon’ line of devices definitely managed to capture people’s attention. This China-based company has released quite a few of Axon devices this year, like the Axon Pro, Elite and Mini, for example. Well, about a week ago, ZTE has showcased the Axon Max handset in China during China Mobile Worldwide Partner Conference, and it was said that the device will launch soon. Well, that’s exactly what happened, ZTE has officially unveiled this smartphone and confirmed its specs and design, read on.

The ZTE Axon Max sports a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) 2.5D curved AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (up to 128GB via a microSD card). This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 617 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel shooter (f/1.9 aperture, PDAF) is located on the back of this handset, and a 13-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture) can be found up front. The Axon Max sports a 4,140mAh battery on the inside, and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 is also included here. The fingerprint scanner is available below this device’s rear-facing shooter, and an AK4961 24-bit ADC audio chip is also built-in here. The Axon Max offers two SIM card slots (Hybrid Dual-SIM, nano SIM x 2), and 4G LTE connectivity is also available here, of course. Now, as far as software is concerned, this phablet ships with Andriod 5.1 Lollipop with ZTE’s MiFavor 3.5 UI, which we’ve become very familiar with. The Axon Max measures 160 x 80 x 7.5mm, while it weighs 188 grams.

As you can see in the image down below, this device does differentiate from its siblings, it lacks some Axon-like design details up front. Either way, this is a really good looking smartphone made out of metal, and it will be available in Gold color only. The phone is priced at 2,799 Yuan ($431), and it will be available in China later this month, we’re still not sure if ZTE even intends to release this handset globally, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
