Asus Aims To Sell 30 Million Smartphones This Year

Asus is one of the most successful tech companies in the world. Their devices are especially popular in the personal computer market, but the company has started pushing hard in the smartphone market as well. Asus has introduced a range of ZenFone devices last year, some of which were quite successful as far as sales go. The company’s ZenFone 2 device(s), ZenFone Laser, ZenFone Max, etc. The latest addition to the ZenFone lineup is the ZenFone Zoom smartphone, a device which sports a 13-megapixel snapper on the back, but it is equipped with 3x optical zoom, and all kinds of other goodies.

That being said, Asus has big plans for this year it seems, as the company is trying to make their way to the top 10 smartphone manufacturers in the world. This Taiwan-based company is aiming to ship 30 million smartphones in 2016, and in order to do that, they’ll push their devices to India, Brazil, Russia and Africa, as their main markets. Now, this info doesn’t come directly from the company, so keep that in mind, the info was provided to Digitimes from a number of analysts. Now, this company shipped 20.5 million devices in 2015, which is a significant increase compared to 2014 when Asus sold ‘only’ 8.5 million units. The ZenFone units were quite popular in emerging markets, so Asus will definitely aim to sell them in such markets, as the one mentioned above.

The sources claim that Asus will outsource their ZenFone orders to Foxconn, those which will be sold in Brazil, considering Foxconn has a plant there. The company actually shipped one million units in Brazil last year, and are looking to triple that this year. As far as India is concerned, Asus has sold three million units in 2015, and is looking to sell at least four million this year, if not more. Asus will hit up Foxconn as far as Indian units go as well, the import taxes went up in India in early 2015, and Foxconn manufactures 70% of Asus’ units in the country. According to analysts, Asus has separate plans for a number of countries around the world, and is definitely aiming to become one of the top 10 smartphone OEMs in the world, they might even have a chance to squeeze in the top 5 list, we’ll see.
