Asus’ ZenFone devices have been quite popular last year. The company has kicked things off by launching a number of ZenFone 2 units during CES last year, and a number of additional ZenFone units followed throughout the year. The latest ZenFone-branded handset Asus has released is the ZenFone Max, and according to the newest info, it seems like the new ZenFone handsets might be right around the corner, read on.
Two Asus-branded handsets popped up on GFX Bench recently, the Z010DD and Z012D. These two devices seem to be mid-rangers, so it looks like the ZenFone 3 is not scheduled to launch just yet. Latest info regarding that handset said that it will arrive in May, but we’ll see. Anyhow, regarding the two aforementioned devices, the Z010DD is a mid-range phablet, it seems. This handset sports a 5.9-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and an Adreno 405 GPU. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this phablet, and a 5-megapixel shooter is placed up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, and Asus’ custom UI will be placed on top of it.
The Z012D, on the other hand, comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) panel, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. This smartphone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 650 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.7GHz, along with an Adreno 510 GPU. The camera sensors have not been listed for this device, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow has also been mentioned here. These seem to be ZenFone variants of some sort, but we still don’t know which models, of course. Both of these phones are mid-ranger devices, but a very well specced ones. The ZenFone 3 is definitely the most anticipated Asus-branded smartphone at the moment, but it seems it won’t launch that soon, information regarding that phone has been missing, we’ve only seen a couple of rumors thus far. We will, however, let you know if any new info pops up, stay tuned.
