Many products at CES 2016 focused on bringing hi-quality audio either on mobile products or home entertainment systems. Edifier, a company which specializes in making sound systems and have a wide range of products including speakers, music systems and headphones. They acquired STAX, the company that created electrostatic earspeakers, back in 2011, so they are often considered to bring a very good hi-fi audio experience. Now, Edifier has made the announcement of various products at CES 2016 including headphones, portable DAC amps and speaker systems. The L3 is the first portable DAC amp of the company, it creates a versatile audio connectivity as it has multiple source options available. The XMOS USB interface of the L3 is used to stream from PC, Android and iOS devices. It supports DSD audio stream with 2.822M and 5.6488M bit rate in addition of PCM audio up to a frequency of 192kHz. It integrates an ESS audiophile-grade Sabre reference DAC.
There were many speakers announced including the Luna Eclipse 2.1 home audio system, which has been THX certified and feature many connectivity options like Bluetooth, optical and line in. It supports the aptX codec for a smooth Bluetooth connection between devices. It includes a wireless subwoofer with very low latency, and overall the system produces a 174W power output. The MA5 is a desktop audio system compatible with WiFi, DLNA and airplay technologies, it can stream over services like Pandora, Tidal and Spotify and it can be used as a 2.4GHz WiFi hotspot, the system features speech recognition to find music online. The MP380 is a desktop speaker which can be transported around, it offers similar functionality as the MA5 and there’s an RJ45 socket for a wired Ethernet setup, plus, it can charge devices wirelessly through Qi. The S2000MKII is a desktop active monitor system featuring ribbon type tweeters which support many connectivity options. There are Bluetooth and WiFi versions and it comes with a complete digital system with DSP-based electronic crossover, DRC, and speaker compensation.
The MP700 comes in a Bluetooth version as well as one with WiFi connectivity, it is very portable and features NFC, the Bluetooth version supports aptX codec and the WiFi version supports DLNA and airplay, it can manage music from various online services and it can also be used as a2.4GHz WiFi hotspot. The company offered a sneak peak of their H890 headphones, but those are still under development.
