FCC-Certified Accessories for Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Appear

With Samsung fairly close to launching its next-gen flagship smartphone, rumors about the upcoming handset have been all over the place. Although nothing that’s been revealed thus far has been officially confirmed, multiple sources have already reported that the upcoming devices will come in multiple variants, with distinct chipsets powering different versions meant for different markets. There’s also talk of a QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, a 12-megapixel primary camera, 4 GB of RAM and an USB Type-C connector being included as part of the package. Now, earlier in the day, the two devices appeared on the website of the Indonesia telecom regulator, giving us further insight into the two upcoming flagships from the South Korean consumer electronics company.

As per the listing, at least one of the versions of the S7 is expected to come with the model number SM-G930FD, which would make sense, seeing as last year’s Galaxy S6 sports the model number of SM-G920. Also, the accompanying S7 Edge is expected to come with model number SM-G935FD, which would also be keeping in line with last year’s S6 Edge that sports SM-G925. A smartphone sporting the model number SM-G930A and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 has already been spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark earlier, so the new listing probably indicates that the upcoming devices will launch in multiple variants meant for different markets. Earlier reports had indicated that the Galaxy S7 will be available in both Exynos as well as Snapdragon-powered versions, but will be meant for different markets.

In the meantime, the US telecom regulator, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has certified two different smartphone LED View Covers with model numbers EF-NG930 and EF-NG935. Now, while it is anybody’s guess as to which phones these model numbers refer to, several reports seem to indicate that the two cases are Samsung’s official accessories meant for the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge. Now whether that does turn out to be the case remains to be seen, but Samsung is expected to launch its own accessories as it often does, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the company is indeed prepping to launch the two new accessories along with its two upcoming premium smartphones.
