The popularity of smartwatches is constantly increasing, the most common ones built by tech companies usually integrate a color touchscreen and run their own operating system to get notifications and all sorts of information from the connected smartphone. Still, traditional watch makers are thinking of ways of integrating new technologies into their classic-looking offerings to make them more useful in the future, thus creating another kind of smartwatches. HP created the program “Engineered by HP” to allow watchmakers to design new timepieces and the company would make the necessary components so that they could be paired with a smartphone as well as display relevant information. Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi has designed a stylish new watch as part of HP’s program.
The classic gold or stainless steel frame of the Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch is decorated with Swarovski crystals providing an elegant look and there are various leather straps in different colors, which are easily swappable to complement your outfit. The casing has a diameter that measures 42 mm and despite the traditional and timeless looks provided by the analog movement of the watch, the watch face features an OLED digital display which is unnoticeable unless it’s turned on displaying notifications. It uses Bluetooth connectivity to show incoming calls, calendar events or alerts from text messages. The case is water resistant up to 3 atmospheres and the watch features some basic activity tracking. To charge the smartwatch, there’s a custom fit charger that can be used with a traditional USB cable. The price of the watch is $249.99 and it is already available to order. Additional watch bands can be purchased for $39.99
The watch is obviously designed for women, as it is not as big as others and it features a more delicate design and decorations, plus, the pastel color of the leather bands could certainly complement a female outfit. It turns out that women may not be as interested in these types of products, so companies have been creating some special editions of their smaller smartwatches or just decorating them in a more feminine way to appeal to a wider female audience in an attempt to change their minds.
