If you are someone who often tunes in to ‘Fear of the dark’ or ‘Run to the hills’, then you will be well-versed in the world of Iron Maiden. They are a band who takes the experience of a song and an album to a whole new level and one of the ways they achieve this, is by creating a world for the song to live within. If you are someone who happens to have an Iron Maiden CD or vinyl lying around, you will be able to see a prime example of the more-encompassing world they create by the album art alone. Of course, if you are more of the streaming-generation then you can just click on the album thumbnail on Spotify or Play Music to see the artwork as well.
Either way, this more encompassing world which binds album art, lyrics, videos and album fluidity is one which many might have thought would be the perfect ecosystem for a game. And it seems the folks over at Roadhouse Interactive would certainly agree as they have today announced that a new Iron Maiden RPG game is very much in the works. One which will be making its way to Android in due course.
The game itself has now been confirmed to be called ‘Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast’ and is designed to be an “action-packed, free-to-play RPG steeped in Iron Maiden mythology“. According to Roadhouse Interactive’s CEO, James Hursthouse, “As a lifelong fan, I have always thought that Maiden’s music, lyrics and cast of characters would provide the perfect basis for a deep RPG experience“. In fact, according to the press release, this is a game which is being made in partnership with Iron Maiden’s management and the developers have been provided access to all the Iron Maiden material needed to “create a truly authentic Iron Maiden game“. Legacy of the Beast is said to build on the premise of the player adopting the role of Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie, and with Eddie will be able to travel to new worlds, through time and all to the backdrop of iconic Iron Maiden artwork and soundtrack. Unfortunately though, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is not expected to arrive for Android devices until later in the year.
