Motorola To Launch Moto X Force In India On February 1st

The Moto X Force, known as the Droid Turbo 2 in the US, is the follow-up to last year’s Droid Turbo from Motorola. When launched back in late October, the device started off as a Verizon-exclusive, but has since started to become available globally as the Moto X Force. The smartphone, for a change, comes with an USP that’s truly distinctive. That’s because the device features a ‘ShatterShield Display‘ that renders the phone’s screen virtually unbreakable, thereby bringing true innovation to the premium smartphone sector that has well and truly been starved for something more than just technical, incremental upgrades over the past few years. While the device is eventually expected to be launched in a number of countries worldwide, it now seems to be the turn of India to get the latest premium smartphone from the Lenovo-owned company.

With Motorola India releasing a video teaser earlier this week showcasing the Moto X Force, it was only a matter of time before the company made it official. That time now seems to be upon us as Motorola has reportedly send out media invites for an event to be held on February 1st and 2nd, promising “the launch of a phone that is tough enough to love you back”. While Motorola had launched the X Force’s predecessor in the country as the Droid Turbo, the company now seems to have quietly abandoned that branding for the sake of uniformity in the international nomenclature of its latest flagship handset. While there’s no word on the price at which the device will be launched in India, some speculations indicate that it might well be as high as Rs. 50,000 ($800), although, the same hasn’t been confirmed by the company.

Coming to some of the hardware on the Moto X Force, the device comes with a 5.4-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that comes with a QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and a shatterproof display. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor and carries 3 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage depending on the variant. The smartphone sports a 21-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. The handset comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed and has a 3,760 mAh battery.
