OnePlus Reveals Prices Of Spare Parts In India

In an effort to bring more transparency to the cost of repairs, Chinese smartphone vendor OnePlus has published a list detailing the pricing information of 81 accessories and spare parts for the three smartphones the company has launched globally over the past couple of years. The prices however, are only applicable to the Indian market, so OnePlus customers elsewhere still remain at the mercy of local service centers when it comes to getting a fair and reasonable quote for components in case of accidental damage to their handsets. While most electronics vendors do not usually announce component prices upfront officially, the decision by OnePlus, by no means, is a unique one. Indian smartphone vendor, Xolo, had also published a list of spare parts for its entire lineup of smartphones last year.

Coming to the list itself, while the news was published on the company’s official website on Monday, the list itself is available to download as a pdf file from e-commerce site, Amazon – the exclusive official retailer of the latest OnePlus smartphones including the OnePlus X mid-ranger. As for the prices of components, they vary from as low as Rs. 30 (¢50) for OnePlus One’s SIM card needle to as high as Rs. 17,100 ($260) for the mainboard of the OnePlus 2. Which is to be expected, seeing as the mainboard houses some of the most critical (and expensive) components on the handset – the processor, memory and storage chips. Also along expected lines are the prices of the replacement display panels, which cost Rs, 7,200 ($110) for the OnePlus One, Rs. 10,000 ($150) for the OnePlus 2 and Rs. 6,600 ($100) for the OnePlus X.

As for the primary cameras, the one on the latest flagship (OnePlus 2) happens to be the most expensive, costing Rs. 4550 ($70), while replacing the shooter on the OnePlus One will only cost half as much – Rs. 2,380 ($35). The camera on the OnePlus X is cheaper still, coming in at only Rs. 1,927 ($29). The listed prices are however, not all-inclusive, and will attract taxes over and beyond the prices mentioned in the list. OnePlus has also urged users to get their devices serviced only through its authorized service centers run by third-party operators like B2X Service Solutions and Regenersis.
