Potential Front Panel of Galaxy S7 Leaks Out

The Samsung Galaxy S7 rumor mill has been heating up a lot lately, although we still aren’t expecting to see it at CES next week in Las Vegas. Instead we are expecting to see it next month in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress. Which is where Samsung typically unveils their Galaxy S smartphone. Now it appears that the front panel for the Samsung Galaxy S7 has leaked out. Now there’s no way to confirm that this is indeed for the Galaxy S7, so take this with a grain of salt or two.

Looking at this panel, we do see a few changes when compared to the previous version, the Galaxy S6. For one, it appears that all the sensors are now on the right side. Instead of being on the left side with the camera on the right side. Additionally, the cut out for the home button appears to be a bit more rectangular than before, instead of being an oval. It’s tough to tell what size the screen might be from this front panel here, but leaks are showing us a 5.2-inch display which will have a resolution of 2560×1440. Pretty similar to last year’s Galaxy S6, but slightly larger (5.1 vs 5.2 inches).

The leaks we’ve seen in the past few weeks (there’s an image below with all of them together), it looks like Samsung might still be playing around with a few different prototypes for the Galaxy S7. Now this is quite normal for device manufacturers. There are typically a few prototypes that are used before the final design of the smartphone is made. For instance, with the original Moto 360, Motorola showed us about 15 different prototypes before the final version. One leak shows the sensors on the left side like usual, another shows them on both sides, split by the earpiece. We’ll have to wait until Samsung takes the wraps off of the Galaxy S7 next month in Barcelona, to know for sure. But right now, it’s looking like a pretty decent smartphone from Samsung. They’ll likely continue to improve on the design they debuted last year with the Galaxy S6.
