Having tasted success with its first generation Moto 360 smartwatch in 2014, the Lenovo-owned American consumer electronics company, Motorola Mobility, announced the second iteration of its smartwatch last year at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. When the 2nd Gen Moto 360 was originally put up for sale in India late last year, it was available exclusively on the country’s largest e-commerce site, Flipkart. But now that the 30-day exclusivity period is over, the watch is now up for pre-order on the country’s second largest online retail outlet – Amazon. Four variants of the device are currently available on the e-commerce site, including two in 46 mm cases, while the other two come in 46 mm casings. As mentioned already, the devices are only up for pre-order, with stocks slated to arrive on the 8th, as per the listing on the website.
As for the four variants currently up for sale on Amazon India, two are available with black dials while the two others come with natural metal dials. While the only difference between the two natural metal variants is the size of the dials, the two black versions also come with different bands apart from their size difference. There’s also a significant price difference between the available options. While the larger (46 mm) variants are priced at Rs. 23,999 ($360), the smaller, 42 mm versions come with Rs. 19,999 ($300) price-tags. The silver and gold colored editions that are available on Flipkart, however, are nowhere to be seen on Amazon, and it isn’t immediately known whether the e-commerce site intends to stock those options at a later date, or if some of the variants will continue to remain exclusive to Flipkart, at least for the time being.
Coming to the Moto 360 (2nd gen), the smartwatch is the follow-up to the first-generation device that was launched by the company back in 2014, and is based on the Android Wear platform. The smartwatch is compatible with both Android and iOS, and comes in a whole host of personalization options. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 410 chipset from Qualcomm, and has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. Its sensors include an accelerometer, a gyroscope and an ambient light sensor, along with a heart rate monitor. Both versions of the device also come with IP67 ratings that denote the water and dust resistance.
