Rumor: HTC's New Flagship To Launch In Two Variants

HTC is a Taiwan-based tech giant, but the company has been having serious issues turning a profit in the last couple of years. They were once the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, and today they’re nowhere near the top. The company has introduced a number of compelling devices in the last couple of years, but for one reason or the other, they’re just not able to keep up with the competition.

Now, HTC is hoping that this year will be significantly more successful for them, and we’re eagerly anticipating the company’s new flagship handset. We’ve seen a couple of reports regarding this handset thus far, and we’re still not sure if it will be called the One M10 or not. Either way, the latest report which surfaced a couple of days ago says that the device will launch in March, after MWC, and that it will be available in April. That being said, a new rumor just surfaced, courtesy of LlabTooFeR, and it share some interesting info. The tipster also says that the device will be launched at a separate event (not during MWC), while he also says that it will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Sense 8.0 out of the box. The source mentions that HTC will probably release two variants of their new flagship, the Snapdragon 820-powered model which will be available in US and EU, and the MediaTek-powered unit which will be available in Asia.

That is pretty much it as far as provided info goes. Now, we still don’t know what specs will this device sport, but we can always guess. The Snapdragon 820 and Android Marshmallow have already been mentioned, and the M10 (or whatever HTC decides to name it) will probably sport 4GB of RAM as well. BoomSound speakers are likely to make a comeback, and the phone will most likely be made out of metal, even though we do expect it to sport a different design compared to the One M8 and One M9. The company’s One A9 and One X9 devices have differentiated from the company’s previous offerings quite a bit, and it will be interesting to see what will HTC’s new flagship look like.
