Samsung Gear S2 & S2 Classic Smartwatches Launched In India

Samsung has introduced a number of interesting products last year, and the Gear S2 smartwatches are certainly amongst them. The Gear S2 is the company’s Tizen-powered smartwatch which was introduced last year, and a report which surfaced yesterday said that the company plans to introduce the Gear S2 to the Indian smartphone market today, and that’s exactly what just happened, read on.

The Gear S2 and Gear VR have been available in a number of markets thus far, but India wasn’t one of them. That just changed, this Korea-based tech giant has unveiled the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches, and the Gear VR in India. The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic are somewhat different in terms of the design, but they offer an identical set of specs. The Gear S2 sports a silicone band, and a sporty look, while the Gear S2 Classic comes with a premium looking metal body, and a leather band. The Gear S2 features a 1.2-inch 360 x 360 circular Super AMOLED display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The watch is fueled by the Exynos 3250 dual-core SoC running at 1GHz, and as already mentioned, Tizen is fueling this smartwatch. The watch is compatible with Android though, not just Tizen. The Gear S2 also offers IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, and a 250mAh battery is located on the inside. As far as sensors go, this is the full list of available ones: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Barometer and Ambient Light sensor.

The Gear S2 comes in a Dark Grey color with Silver case, and a silicone band is also included. The Gear S2 Classic, on the other hand, features a Black case with a leather band. The Gear S2 is priced at Rs. 24,300 in the country, and the Gear S2 Classic costs Rs. 25,800. Both of these watches will be available through Samsung’s retail channels, and as far as online availability goes, you’ll be able to get it exclusively through Flipkart.
