Due to huge consumer response, Sprint has decided to extend their switching deal, which they are calling the “biggest wireless offer in U.S. history”. Originally, they were cutting in half the rates of Verizon and AT&T customers for new signups and generating a good amount of buzz in doing so. When they added T-Mobile to the equation, the buzz only got bigger and still hasn’t quite died down. On top of cutting customers’ current bills in half, Sprint has added in paying off early termination fees and device leases of up to $650, which leaves a great deal of switchers with no debt at all to their old carrier. The deal is now on until February 11, guaranteeing customers of the Big 3, 50-percent off almost all parts of their rate plan until January 8 of 2018. The restrictions on the offer are few and relatively straightforward, leaving most customers who are unsatisfied with their bills a nearly stress-free way to get some relief.
The conditions stipulate that a customer wanting to take advantage of the offer has to port in their old number and turn in their old device, along with a bill from their carrier. If a customer has a device they’re not paying off through their carrier, such as an unlocked Google Nexus 6P, they can bring that to Sprint and still take advantage of the deal. Customers will then be able to choose a rate plan from their old carrier that’s comparable to an available Sprint plan and they’ll pay half the old carrier’s rate. MetroPCS and Cricket customers can get in on the fun as well, paying half of their carrier’s parent company’s postpaid rates. This means that MetroPCS customers will pay T-Mobile’s rates cut in half, while Cricket customers will half of what AT&T customers are paying. Customers who meet these requirements will receive a prepaid American Express card for the appropriate amount after they activate their new account and devices.
Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure chimed in excitedly about the deal. “We experienced record sales during Black Friday and continue to see high demand. After receiving such positive feedback from customers and hearing from our salespeople about store traffic, I knew we had to extend this exciting promotion to give even more wireless subscribers the opportunity to experience Sprint’s award-winning network and take advantage of the best value in wireless.”
