Xiaomi Coming To MWC, Mi 5 Flagship Launching On Feb. 24th

As most of you know, Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launching soon. Xiaomi’s new flagship will arrive on February 24th, this info has been confirmed by the company a couple of days ago. Xiaomi has officially announced that the event will be held in Beijing, which was to be expected, and that the Mi 5 will be announced during it. Now, it seems like Xiaomi won’t be holding this event in Beijing only, read on.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is right around the corner, and as it usually goes, we’ll get to see a ton of tech companies showcase their existing and new products and plans. Well, unlike last year, Xiaomi will be one of those companies. This China-based tech giant will hold a press event in Barcelona on February 24th as well, and will announce the Mi 5 during that press conference as well (confirmed). We already knew that Xiaomi intends to expand to more markets around the world, and this is definitely a great sign. The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, tech trade shows in the world, and it’s a great opportunity for Xiaomi to get under the spotlight.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors and leaks have been arriving non-stop for weeks now, and it will surely going to be interesting to see what Xiaomi has to offer. Now, based on those leaks, the Mi 5 will arrive in several variants (4 to be exact). Two of those variants will be made out of metal, and two will sport metal + glass design. Every single Mi 5 model will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, which was confirmed by Xiaomi’s exec a couple of weeks ago. The Mi 5 will be available in 3 or 4GB RAM variants (depending on the model), and will ship with a 5.1 or 5.2-inch display up front. The display will sport a 1080p or QHD resolution, depending on the model, if the leaks are to be believed, of course. The 16-megapixel camera has also been mentioned in a number of those leaks, and same can be said for the 3,600mAh battery. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will quite probably come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of it.
