The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been leaking for months now. We’ve seen tons of announcements, and the closer the release date comes, the more leaks we’re getting. The company’s executive has confirmed that the device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, and that it will be announced after the Chinese New Year next month. That being said, earlier today a real life image of the device has surfaced online, and now we have yet another interesting leak to share with you, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has surfaced on Geekbench back in November. The device has been fueled by the Snapdragon 820 in that benchmark test, but that was the revision 1 of the processor. Well, a new listing has appeared on GeekBench, and this time around the device is rockin’ the revision 2 Snapdragon 820 SoC. In the first test, the Mi 5 scored 2,140 points in a single-core test, and 4,762 points in the multi-core test. Well, this times around, the device managed to do even better. The Mi 5 hit 2,320 points in the single-core test, and 5,347 in a multi-core test with this 2nd revision of the Snapdragon 820 processor. Aside from these benchmark results, the listing has also revealed that the device sports 3GB of RAM, and that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is pre-installed here. This is quite probably not the final build of Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the device, but a Marshmallow-powered MIUI 7 is expected to ship with the final Mi 5 product.
That being said, the Mi 5 is expected to arrive in two variants. One variant is rumored to sport a 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and a metallic frame with two sheets of glass, one on the front, and other on the back of the device. The higher-end model will reportedly sport an all-metal design, 4GB of RAM and a QHD display. Both of these variants will ship with a 5.2-inch panels, and will be fueled by the aforementioned Snapdragon 820 SoC. The 3,600mAh battery has also been mentioned, and so did the Ultrasound Fingerprint Scanner by Qualcomm. The physical home button will quite probably be a part of this device’s design, though that hasn’t been confirmed thus far.
