Not a day goes by without at least one Mi 5 rumor or leak, the closer the launch event comes, the more frequent such rumors are. Anyhow, earlier today the company’s event preparation press materials surfaced. The info revealed that the press event will last for two hours, which suggested that we’ll not only see two variants of the Mi 5 launched, but additional devices might appear as well. Now, this press conference won’t be held before February 20th, so there’s still time. The company’s exec did confirm that the press event will happen after the said date, but he didn’t say when.
Now, new information just surfaced, and it seemingly reveals the pricing of Mi 5 handsets. The company’s exec hinted recently that the Mi 5 might be somewhat more expensive than we’re expecting, and according to the new rumor, the standard edition of the device will be priced at 2,499 Yuan ($379). This variant of the handset is said to sport a 5.1-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and a metal + glass design. The premium edition, however, is allegedly going to cost 2,999 Yuan ($455), and it will ship with a 5.2-inch QHD panel, 4GB of RAM and a metal unibody design. Now, both of these variants are said to ship with a Snapdragon 820 SoC on the inside, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of it. The 16-megapixel shooter has also been mentioned in various leaks, and it seems like both variants of this phone will offer a physical home button. The Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner has also been leaked recently, but we’re still not sure that will happen. The phone might ship with a 3,600mAh battery unit on the inside of both of these variants. Keep in mind that this info might not be accurate, we’re basing these specs on rumors, leaks and various benchmark listings that surfaced recently.
That is more or less it. The conference will be held after February 20th, though we still don’t know when exactly. If any additional Xiaomi Mi 5-related information surfaced, we’ll let you know, as we always do, stay tuned.
