Xiaomi Redmi 3 Is Now Official, 4,100mAh Battery In Tow

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi 2 handset back in January 2015. We were expecting this China-based company to introduce its successor at the beginning of this year, and Xiaomi has released a new teaser back on January 7th. The company’s teaser basically confirmed that the Redmi 3 is on its way, and also revealed the design of the phone’s back. That being said, the company has just officially introduced this smartphone, read on.

The Redmi 3 is Xiaomi’s newest mid-ranger, though some of you might even consider it an entry-level phone. This handset features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via a microSD card up to 128GB). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor fuels this smartphone, and a 4,100mAh battery is also a part of this package. The Redmi 2 sported a 2,200mAh battery, so it is somewhat surprising Xiaomi opted for a 4,100mAh battery here (which was also confirmed a couple of days ago), but we’re not complaining. The 13-megapixel shooter (f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 0.1s autofocus) is placed on the phone’s back, and a 5-megapixel snapper (f/2.0 aperture) can be found up front. This is a dual-SIM handset, and you can use the second slot for your microSD card.

It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi has included fast charging into this package, and MIUI 7 will come pre-installed here. The Redmi 3 measures 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 144 grams. The device is made out of metal through and through, and on the back you’ll notice a rather interesting pattern which Xiaomi calls the ‘lattice design’. The company says that this pattern is ”made up of 4,166 stars woven together to reflect a gorgeous arrangement of diamonds”. The Redmi 3 comes in Grey, Silver and Gold color options, and will be available in China starting tomorrow on Mi.com and Tmall for 699 Yuan ($106), which makes it incredibly affordable. That is pretty much it, this is the company’s newest handset. There are a couple of images included in the gallery down below, which you give you a pretty good idea of how this device looks like.
