Xiaomi Mi 5 has been introduced during Xiaomi’s press event in Beijing and Barcelona yesterday. Following months and months of various rumors, teasers and leaks, the company has finally introduced their new flagship. Hugo Barra announced the phone in Barcelona, and we’ve talked a lot about it yesterday. Interesting enough, the first teardown of this smartphone has already surfaced online, and as it’s usually the case with Chinese devices, IT168 is the first site to do it, read on.

Now, keep in mind that the Xiaomi Mi 5 is a unibody device, its back cover is not removable. That being said, the source has first removed the back cover, and has then proceeded to remove the screws which are holding the device together, which was fairly easy to do. As far as the battery goes, this battery is not removable, but is easy to replace, do keep in mind that performing any of these tasks will void your warranty though. In case you have any issues with the battery, you can easily replace it yourself. IT168 were able to perform this teardown fairly quickly, which is somewhat surprising, and is only a testament to how well organized this device’s internals are. IT168 doesn’t exactly give teardown ratings like iFixit, for example, does, but it seems like the Mi 5 would get a fairly decent repairability score.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) ‘Sunlight’ display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera is placed on the back of this phone, and a 4-megapixel snapper (2um pixel size) can be found on its back. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS available on top of it. Two SIM card slots are available on the inside of this phone, and a physical home button is placed below the display, while the fingerprint scanner is built into it.
