Chinese mobile internet company, Cheetah Mobile, has just announced that it has partnered with Cubot to launch its own smartphone called the CheetahPhone. The device was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier on Tuesday, February 23rd, and will be priced at 199 Euros on Amazon for sale across the European Union. Pre-orders for the upcoming handset will begin on March 20th, while shipping will start in April. According to the company’s CEO, Mr. Sheng Fu, “Cheetah Mobile’s mission is to make the mobile experience speedier, safer, and simpler and CheetahPhone stays true to that. It’s a pleasure to partner with CUBOT to make the CheetahPhone a reality and give users another option for their phone to move as fast as they do”.
CheetahMobile has also officially announced some of the hardware specs of the CheetahPhone, giving us an understanding of what to expect from the upcoming device. The handset which will be powered by an ARM 64-bit octa-core processor of unspecified make, and will feature a 1080p display panel. The phone will have a fingerprint scanner on its back and will incorporate 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage as part of the package. Exterior measurements of the smartphone will be 149mm x 74.9mm x 7.95mm, and it will come pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As for the cameras, the primary one will have a 13-megapixel sensor whereas the front shooter will come with an 8-megapixel sensor. CheetahPhone buyers will also get 10 GB of “free and permanent” cloud storage and the device itself will be offered in three different colors – gold, rose gold and space grey.

While it is best-known for its popular Clean Master app, it is also responsible for other applications such as the CM Launcher, CM Security and Battery Doctor. While CM Launcher is a standard Launcher app with its own little features that it brings to the table, Clean Master helps to optimize smartphone performance. CM security is an anti-virus program that protects smartphones from malware and Battery Doctor optimizes battery life on Android smartphones. As for Cubot, the company is a manufacturer and marketer of smartphone and related accessories, and is based out of Shenzhen, China.
