Exynos 8890 Galaxy S7 Surfaces, Gets Compared To SD820 Unit

The Galaxy S7 units are popping up all over the internet. Samsung will introduce their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets on February 21st during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the company has already scheduled their ‘Unpacked’ event. That being said, we’ve seen both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge surface in a number of benchmark listings, and even their renders have appeared online several times now.

Both the Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 variants of this phone have surfaced before, and now another listing popped up. The Canadian variant of Galaxy S7 en route to Bell Mobility has popped up on Geekbench, and this variant (SM-G930W8) is fueled by the Exynos 8890 SoC. Now, the AT&T Galaxy S7 model (SM-G930A) surfaced on Geekbench about a week ago, and its score is actually inferior to the one powered by the Exynos chip, at least in the multi-core test. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll get to see these two models compared side-by-side. The Snapdragon 820-powered Galaxy S7 unit scored 2,282 points in a single-core, and 4,979 points in the multi-core test. The Exynos 8890-powered model, on the other hand, scored 1,873 and 5,946 points in the single and multi-core tests, respectively. This is not the first time we’ve seen such numbers, both of these variants surfaced already, and the Exynos-powered unit seems to do better when benchmarks are concerned, at least in the multi-core test.

The hardware is identical on these devices, aside from the processor, of course, and same can be said about the software. The Galaxy S7 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM and various internal storage options. The phone will be powered by one of the two aforementioned chips, and its design will allegedly be quite similar to the one seen on the Galaxy Note 5. The physical home button is making a comeback here, and it will double as a fingerprint scanner, as usual. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this phone, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will be available on top of Google’s operating system.
