Several years ago HTC’s premium smartphone lineup went through a makeover, and thus, the polycarbonate HTC One X was succeeded by the metal-built HTC One (M7) in March of 2013. The original HTC One’s design language was adopted for the next couple of years, but now it’s time for a change. Needless to say, HTC’s current top-tier segment is going through another redesign phase, one which will use the looks of the HTC One A9 as its foundation. The upcoming HTC One M10 (also known as “Perfume”) is expected to borrow the One A9’s design guidelines, and this led to the creation of numerous 3D renders by people who are not affiliated with the Taiwanese manufacturer. The most recent series of fan-made 3D renders is based on various leaks and rumors so far, and aims to give us a glimpse of what might be the flagship’s final design.
At first glance, you might notice that the latest fan-made 3D renders depict a rather colorful HTC One M10, featuring a gray metal frame, a dark back panel, and a handful of golden elements. This is unlike the previous 3D render spotted earlier this month, which featured a more conservative look. It’s also worth noting that the new renders show a protruded main camera similar to the HTC One A9’s, as well as a couple of antenna bands which are now represented in orange / gold, same as the hardware buttons and the fingerprint scanner’s rim. There’s also a USB Type-C port on the bottom edge, flanked by a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, and a speaker grille. Indeed, if the recent rumors are correct then the HTC One M10 will not feature BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers, and the renders at hand seem to reflect this.
As far as the internal specifications go, industry insiders believe that the HTC One M10 will boast a 5.2-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM, and a 12-megapixel UltraPixel main camera. The smartphone should also ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with the OS being partially covered by HTC’s proprietary Sense UI. The HTC One M10 is expected to be unveiled in March and released in April 2016.
