If Google is anything to go by, it does seem that the level of attention and interest in the current U.S. presidential race is extremely high. The Search giant has spent the last couple of weeks detailing various improvements to Search which are designed to keep the public better informed on all the candidates and developments. The most recent of which came last week when Google detailed that they would be making Search a little more real-time interactive with updates to candidate stances and viewpoints during the most recent republican debate. Google also announced that they would be teaming up with Fox to provide more direct access to the recent debates. Following which, Google today has announced a sort of extension of these features.
One of the benefits of the recent additional features was that Google looked to offer candidates the ability to get their messages and viewpoints across much easier than having to rely on the limited talk time they are given during the debate. In an extension of this, Google has today announced that during the 2016 primary season and by using Search, the public can see more detailed stances by the standing candidates on many of the main policy issues. Examples given include taxes, immigration and the real hot topic, national security. Likewise, people will be able to see live results from the nomination races and even be reminded when to vote when the time comes.
To take advantage of these new features, most of the information will be able to be found using search. So for instance, searching for a particular candidate will bring you all the candidate information including viewpoints, if available. You can see an example of this in the image below with Ted Cruz. Likewise, searching for “primary results” will bring forward any and all information and live results. In terms of aspects like the voting, these features will come with the added ability to be received through Google Now. The cards will not only keep you informed on the actual latest news, but will also be how you can keep informed on when it is time for you to vote. Card information will be available in both English and Spanish, as are the rest of the features that Google has announced today.
