Hands-On With Motorola VerveCam & VerveRetrieve

Last week and just before MWC kicked off, Motorola made an announcement that they were expanding their presence in the accessories market. This came with the introduction of a number of new Motorola products which were forming a whole new VerveLife branded range. A big chunk of the announced products were taking shape as earphones and these came in the form of the VerveLoop, VerveOnes and VerveRider. Most of these also came with a (+) version as well, which saw some notably improvements including waterproofing. However, they were not the only products Motorola’s announced, as they also introduced the VerveCam and the VerveRetrieve as well.

As to be expected, the VerveCam is indeed a camera. In fact, following in the trend of cameras of late, this is what is described and as ‘lifestyle camera’ and one which can record in HD. The VerveCam can record 2.5K videos at 30fps and while making use of an 138-degree field of vision. The camera can also be used for live streaming straight to YouTube thanks to its integrated Wi-Fi. While, further adding to its general ‘anywhere’ level of usage, this camera can also be used underwater (to a depth of 30m), thanks to its case which comes with an IP67 waterproof rating. In contrast, the VerveRetrieve is a GPS-enabled pet tracking product. This is a device aimed at ensuring you can always be ‘in the know’ as to where your pet is, as it can be synced with your device for real-time tracking information. This is also an IP67 rated device and that means your pet can pretty much go anywhere while wearing it, including underwater.

As is the case with any recently announced products, Motorola does have the entire VerveLife range on display at MWC and we were able to get a much better look at these newly announced products in detail.
