Xiaomi has managed to become one of the largest Chinese smartphone manufacturers in a very short period of time. This company grew immensely ever since it was founded back in 2010, and at this point they’re a very well-known brand. That being said, Xiaomi is expected to introduce their long-awaited Mi 5 flagship on February 24th. The company will hold an event both in China, and Barcelona during MWC.
Speaking of the Mi 5, we’ve seen a ton of rumors and leaks thus far, this handset is, next to the Galaxy S7, the most rumored smartphone this year. The company’s co-founder, Lin Bin, actually posted a couple of images taken with the Mi 5 a couple of days ago, as we’ve already reported. Well, the company’s VP, Hugo Barra, actually decided to do the same. Mr. Barra, however, didn’t’ share his images on Weibo (Chinese social network), but Facebook instead, probably in order to appeal to the international audience. Now, do keep in mind that these are not full-size images considering Facebook trims down images before sharing them. Hugo Barra realizes this, and has said in his Facebook post that he’ll upload the full size images on MIUI Forums if that’s what consumers want. As far as the images are concerned, well, they look really good. There’s plenty of color there, and the details are also quite good, but we’d rather take a look at the full size images which will probably pop up on MIUI Forums soon.
That being said, let’s take about the Mi 5 for a bit. This smartphone will, according to the leaked info, feature a 5.1-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and will be available in various internal storage options. The company’s officials already confirmed that the phone will ship with a fullHD display (though the size hasn’t been mentioned), and that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC. The dual-SIM capabilities of this device have also been confirmed, as well as built-in NFC. The Mi 5 will, allegedly, ship with a 16-megapixel snapper on the back, and an 8-megapixel shooter up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come out of the box here, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS will be available on top of Google’s operating system.
