Industry Insider Says Meizu MX6 Might Launch In May

Meizu hasn’t exactly launched a lot of devices last year, but even despite that fact, this company has managed to grow immensely. Meizu has sold 4.4 million smartphones in 2014, and that number grew to 20 million last year. The Meizu MX5 and PRO 5 were released as the company’s flagships devices, the MX5 is their smartphone, while the PRO 5 is a phablet flagship, and the most powerful Meizu-branded handset to date.

That being said, Meizu has partnered up with Canonical yet again, and introduced the Ubuntu Edition of the PRO 5 handset prior to Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The company has already confirmed that the Meizu PRO 5 Mini won’t be arriving at all due to issues in the supply chain and significant losses, which means that their new high profile handset will almost certainly be the Meizu MX6. We’ve already seen some Meizu MX6 leaks and rumors. The alleged device has popped up on AnTuTu a while back, and might have even been certified in China already.

Well, a rather well-known China-based industry insider has decided to share some info with the public through his official Weibo (Chinese social network) account. The source said that the Meizu MX6 might arrive sooner than expected, and mentioned that the device might launch this May, instead of July. He did not share any specific info regarding the device’s specs, but something about a pressure sensitive display was mentioned, though the translation is quite poor, so can’t really say what exactly did he mean by that. Either way, it seems like the Meizu MX6 might arrive sooner than we expected, stay tuned.

The Meizu MX6 will, according to AnTuTu, ship with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the device. On top of Google’s OS you’ll find Meizu’s very own Flyme UI, and MediaTek’s Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor is said to fuel this smartphone. That’s pretty much all the info that was shared as far as specs go, but you can also expect this phone to be made out of metal, offer 4G LTE connectivity, and its display will almost certainly going to be 5.5-inches big once again. The mBack physical home button will probably make a comeback once again, and it remains to be seen what will the rest of the specs look like.
