LG Plans Increased Marketing Push For The LG G5

When it comes to MWC this year, so far, two names have stuck out more than any other. More specifically, two products, the latest handset from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 and the latest handset from LG, the LG G5. Both smartphones come boasting the best in class specs, both are being pushed forward as the company’s big devices for this year and both were unveiled and introduced on the same day at MWC. Needless to say, following their unveiling, much of the focus so far has surrounded which of the two devices is the better device.

However, that is a hard decision to make, as on the one hand, the G5 has adopted a sort of modular approach while the Galaxy S7 is coming on the back of a refining of last year’s model, which has proven popular with consumers. As with anything ‘new’ like the G5, it will be hard to persuade the general public to test out such a device and especially against a tried and tested method like with the Galaxy S7. Even more especially, when that tried and tested method is coming from a giant like Samsung. However, it does seem that LG not only fancies their chances going directly head to head with Samsung and the Galaxy S7, but they fully intend to invest to increase those chances.

According to a report emerging from Reuters today, LG’s Mobile Division chief, Juno Cho, has confirmed that LG plans to aggressively push forward in marketing the LG G5 with a view to increasing sales early on. According to Cho, “We’re at a point in time when we need to overspend a bit in order to get the word out and create fans“. In addition and as a means to further increase quick sales out of the door, Cho was also noted confirming that a global availability of the G5 is designed to further increase profitability this year, compared to a more gradual roll out across different regions, like what was in effect with the LG G4 last year. Of course, at the moment it is too early to see how the sales of either device will likely do in 2016, although it does seem early impressions are favorable for both.
