LG Showcases Touch Enabled Quick-Cover For The LG G5

Mobile World Congress is all about flagship devices and this year is bound to see at least a few. One of those new devices will be LG’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the LG G5, and the successor to last year’s device that had a focus on the camera and an eye for design with a stitched leather back. While LG hasn’t officially shown off the design of the LG G5 just yet, quite a few renders of cases for the phone from third-party manufacturers have popped up recently which do detail what the LG G5 could look like. Getting a jump start on grabbing the attention of would-be consumers who like accessories, LG is now showcasing their first accessory for the yet unannounced LG G5 labeled as a Touch-Enabled Quick-Cover.

While the style of the Quick-Cover is not too different from past iterations of the accessory for previous devices, it does add new capabilities that have only been introduced on one other phone up to this point, the recently launched LG K10. LG notes that the inspiration to bring the touch-enabled Quick-Cover to the LG G5 is based on the popularity from the LG K10, and it should bring a level of enhancement that delights users.

Consumers will immediately notice how unassuming the design of the Quick-Cover is until they are able to interact with it. It looks like most any other smart cover case for any other phone with a large flap covering the display and a small window at the top to show off notifications, time, date, and other alerts. The touch function comes into play for example when a call comes through, where the window shows call details, and the rest of the cover displays an alert that an incoming call is available alongside buttons for answering and rejecting the call. Users can then interact with both buttons and slide either left or right to initiate either action. In addition to taking calls, users can also interact with alarms they have set, and the display window up top makes use of the LG G5’s always on display which LG first showcased on the LG V10. Alongside the LG G5, LG plans to show off the LG Touch-Enabled Quick-Cover at Mobile World Congress between February 22nd and February 25th, although they have yet to announce any dates for the launch of the case likely because the launch dates for the phone are still unknown.
