Nintendo has stayed away from mobile, for the most part, in recent years but that’s changing. Even though many gamers and Nintendo fans have been waiting for them to jump on the mobile bandwagon. And 2016 appears to be their year, as they are planning a few games that will be released this year for mobile. One of those games is said to feature a character that Nintendo fans “are very familiar with” according to Nintendo’s president Tatsumi Kimishima in an interview. Kimishima didn’t mention which character that might be, but only that it is one that their fans are very familiar with. This is likely being done so that users will see that character and download and play the new game from Nintendo. A pretty good marketing ploy when you think about it. Nintendo’s president did not mention how that character would fit into their second mobile game, however. So that is still up for interpretation.
In recent years, the gaming industry has started to decline. Largely thanks to the mobile industry picking up and many users playing games on their smartphones and tablets (and in some cases their Android TV like the NVIDIA SHIELD TV set top box). Thanks to console purchases declining, Nintendo has been selling less games, and they are using 2016 as their mission on mobile gaming. Which is pretty smart, considering how many users both Android and iOS have, it’ll be much easier to reach everyone that way then through the Nintendo Wii. Seeing as the hardware is already there, they just need to create the game. Some games have been so popular that developers were making $50,000 per day – that is what Flappy Bird was making before he took down the game.
Nintendo has been around for quite a while, but their first mobile game is due to be available in just a little bit. Miitomo, is their first one, no release date has been set just yet, but it should be coming pretty soon. There’s no doubt that Miitomo will be a popular game, if no other reason than the fact that it’s built by Nintendo.
