OnePlus X Goes Invite-Free In India Starting Tomorrow

OnePlus has introduced two very compelling smartphones this year, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. The former is their flagship offering, while the latter is the even more affordable mid-ranger. Both of these phones required you to have an invite back when they launched, after which OnePlus decided to scratch the invite-only policy for the OnePlus 2. OnePlus X was invite-only (except on a specific day in a week) until recently, but that’s not the case anymore. OnePlus has decided to give up the invite-only policy on the OnePlus X as well, at least in most regions. The invite policy is still in full effect in India though, but not for long, read on.

This China-based company went official on their website and said that the OnePlus X will become invite-free for Indian consumers starting November 5th. All the variants of the device are included in this offer, the Onyx Black, Champagne Gold, and the limited edition Ceramic models. These devices will be invite-free starting February 5th through Amazon India, for those of you who are interested. The OnePlus X Onyx Black and Champagne Gold variants are priced at Rs. 16,999 ($251), while the limited edition Ceramic variant can be purchased for Rs. 22,999 ($340) in India.

“The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share our brand story with the people in their lives. It has been our constant endeavour to enhance the smartphone experience for all of you in taking risks by pushing ourselves and showing real improvements. That’s why we’re making the OnePlus X invite-free, forever, for a more cheerful buying experience,” said OnePlus India in their official blog post. As far as specs are concerned, OnePlus X is definitely a well-specced device for the price. The OnePlus X features a 5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage (expandable). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 SoC fuels this phone, and a non-removable 2,525mAh battery is available on the inside. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this device, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top of it.
