After months of various rumors and leaks, Samsung has finally introduced their new devices in Barcelona. Samsung follows the lead of the other Korea-based tech giant, LG, a company which has introduced their innovative LG G5 smartphone earlier today. We’ve already covered the main announcement for both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, and now we’re here to talk about the worldwide availability of these two handsets, read on.
Samsung actually shared plenty of details when it comes to the U.S. availability of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, but we really didn’t get much info as far as global availability goes. Everything Samsung said is the following: “Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be available starting mid-March 2016,” and as you can see, this sentence isn’t all that revealing. We do not know which countries will get the device first, nor when exactly will they be released. We do, however, expect Samsung to announce further availability details in the near future, at least the exact date these handsets will be available, if not more detailed information. We do anticipate that the release for the company’s newest flagships will be rather similar to the one last year, but we’re only guessing at this point, so take that info with a grain of salt.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge are both made out of metal and glass, and they’re actually quite similar, though the Galaxy S7 Edge is a somewhat larger device. The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, while the S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display. Both of these phones sports Super AMOLED panels, in case you were wondering. Two processor variants are available, one fueled by the Exynos 8890 SoC, and the other one by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chip. The 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ camera is placed on the back of the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel shooter up front. Android 6 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on both of these devices, and on top of it, you’ll find Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI. Both of these devices are made out of metal and glass, just like their predecessors.
