With February now coming to a close, a number of announcements will be coming through detailing manufacturers and carriers who are rolling out the current month’s security update. These updates have now become a thing of habit with multiple companies announcing their attention to release updates periodically every month to ensure devices remain protected from the most up to date issues and vulnerabilities. In fact, in the last twenty four hours there has been a stepping up in the announcements already, with the like of the Moto X Pure seeing its latest security update going live, as well as Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Tab S2.
Speaking of Samsung, it also seems as though they have began rolling out the February update for a whole host of their devices. At least, for a number of their main flagship devices. As is the case with Samsung and their large variety of devices, Samsung hasn’t detailed exactly which devices are receiving the update and instead simply list “flagship models” as those receiving the update. So it would be fair to assume that from the Galaxy S range of devices, this will likely include (at the very least) the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+, while from their other flagship range, the Galaxy Note series, it is likely that (at the very least) both the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note 5 are also receiving their update too.
In terms of what to expect, the details are somewhat limited. Samsung does note that all ten of the security issues which were included in the standard Google February update have been included. Samsung does also state that 7 more Samsung-specific issues have been patched as well. However, Samsung chooses not to detail if there are any additional patches, which is likely to be the case, as they will not detail fixes which could bring aspects of the software to the attention of hackers.
