Samsung's Unpacked Site Code Suggests Gear 360 MWC Launch

The latest handset from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 does look to only be a few weeks away from being unveiled. It is largely expected that the Galaxy S7 will make its debut during the company’s MWC press event which takes place on February 21st in Barcelona. The latest of which is that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have now been spotted passing through the FCC. However, it is also becoming increasingly likely that they Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will not be the only devices announced during the event.

It is no secret that Samsung is highly interested in virtual reality and do seem to be one the companies who are investing heavily in the platform. Following on from their already available Gear VR headset, this week saw reports coming through detailing that Samsung is also likely to be unveiling a new virtual reality product at MWC, the Gear 360 VR camera. The latest on this is that it now looks as though some more evidence is emerging which further looks to confirm the arrival of the Gear 360 at MWC.

Samsung recently released a promo page for MWC and their unpacked event. A page which largely displays just a box and playing on the notion of being ‘unpacked’. However, if you delve a bit more into the source code of the page, it seems there are not just one, but multiple references to “360 video”. On the one hand, this could be alluding to some sort of 360 degree live streaming aspect of the press event. Which in itself, would be interesting. However, if that was the case, it would be assumed Samsung would have announced the additional VR element to the press event by now and used it as an advertising point. As the rumors are also building that Samsung is likely to release a product dubbed “360”, it does seem to make more sense that this is referring to the product, rather than a method of streaming the event. Until the launch does take place or more firmer confirmation comes through, this will only act as further indication that the Gear 360 is nearing its launch.
