Have you ever been reading something really great on the internet and thought to yourself, “Gee, I wish I could share this with my friends… but I don’t feel like copying the link, opening a tab for Gmail and all that other stuff…”? It’s likely happened to most of us at some point, whether it’s tech news, the newest cat videos or just random things you think somebody you know may like. If that has happened to you and you use Chrome, an extension called ‘Share From Gmail’ is the answer.
Share From Gmail is a Chrome extension that allows you to share links quickly and painlessly via Gmail. When you install it, you’ll see a tiny Gmail button in the top right hand side of your Chrome window. While on a page, simply click this button to open up a fresh Compose window in Gmail, complete with the title of the page as the title of the email and a link to the page being the message body. All you have to do at that point is add in the recipients and any applicable commentary, and then hit send. For sharing web links with specific people, it doesn’t get much simpler than that. You could always highlight the URL or link, copy it and then paste it into a message, but this method will save you having to open the new tab and navigate to where you’ll be sending the message from, or save you having to open your messaging program. It’s only a few seconds, but those few seconds can add up if you do a lot of sharing.
As an added bonus, this extension will allow you to simply click on any email address in a web page’s text and instantly have a compose window opened up, with that email address as the recipient. This is great for those who frequently contact webmasters, frequent communities where people communicate privately via emails posted up, such as imageboards, or those who submit to writing websites, just for a few examples. If you’d like to give it a spin and share quicker than ever in Chrome, hit up the source link to get the extension.
