Mobile Hotspots aren’t as popular as they once were, largely due to the fact that everyone has a smartphone these days and they all have mobile hotspot capabilities built right in. However, Chinese manufacturer ZTE is not stepping away from mobile hotspots. They actually manufacturer a pretty big number of mobile hotspots that are sold at the four major US carriers – Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. And today, they are announcing the ZTE Falcon, which is a 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot that can connect up to 10 devices at the same time.
The ZTE Falcon weighs in at 110 grams and has a 2000mAh battery inside. With that battery, it’ll last quite a while before needing to be recharged, a good reason to use it over your smartphone – as your smartphone battery won’t last as long when using it as a mobile hotspot. The ZTE Falcon, as you already know, runs on T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network and as we found out yesterday, they have one of the fastest networks in the country, with speeds that rival Verizon, and coverage that is pretty close to Verizon (if you haven’t used T-Mobile in a few years, it’s time to give them a shot, with their rapid roll out of their 700MHz spectrum coverage is changing and changing quick).
“We understand consumers are always on the go. From the comfort of their own home to the office to activities outside, the need for reliable, secure WiFi access never changes,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA.
T-Mobile and ZTE will be making the Falcon available on February 12th, and it’ll be priced at $79.99, which is full retail. It’ll be available both at T-Mobile’s website as well as their retail locations across the US. It’ll be available on T-Mobile’s hotspot plans which vary in pricing depending on how much data you want. And you can change your data allotment each month. The ZTE Falcon is lightweight but also durable, so if you should happen to drop it or even be a bit more rough on it than most other people, then it should still be able to withstand your usage.
