Data on smartphones is likely the cornerstone of most people’s mobile lives, and therefore the most important part of the cellphone plans that they pay for every single month. Not everyone uses up all of their data every 30 days but every once in a while things can get a little more hectic, and you may need to be online a little more often whether it’s for emails, checking your social media, or collaborating with colleagues. Once in a while each of us could probably use a little bit more data, even prepaid customers, and Verizon is focusing in on that particular group by aiming to bring more value to their prepaid offerings for subscribers.
They’re doing this by offering more data on their prepaid plans than they ever have before according to their blog post, with customers being able to sign up for a $45 monthly prepaid plan and get 2GB of data to go along with it. Customers who need more than 2GB of data each month can more than double that by bumping up their monthly cost to $60, which nets them a total of 5GB each month for whatever needs they have online.
These amounts and prices are decent offerings as they are for Verizon customers, but Verizon is tacking on even more data for those that wish to set up and enroll in the auto-pay solution, as they’re giving anyone who does so an extra 1GB of data, which equals out to either 3GB on the $45 plan or 6GB on the $60 plan. Both options will no doubt be nowhere near enough for a handful of users, but for those who are accustomed to being on Verizon’s prepaid plans this looks to be a pretty great deal for the same costs as Verizon was offering before. In addition to the higher amounts of data, Verizon points out that their prepaid plans all come with unlimited talk and unlimited messaging inside of the U.S. with free texting to Canada and Mexico, so for those who have family or friends in those regions that could work out to be a huge benefit, just as it could for the big talkers who spend a lot of time on phone calls within the states. Aside from bringing more valeue to prepaid, Verizon has also started working on their WiFi calling technology as of last November, something which should bring some extra value to all their customers.
