YouTube Red Originals Premiering on Feb. 10th, 2016

Last October, YouTube announced a new service, called YouTube Red. It was a continuation of Music Key which was phased out. YouTube Red is part of Google Play Music Unlimited, so when you buy one for $9.99/month, you get the other included. It’s a pretty sweet deal, especially when you consider the fact that you also get ad-free YouTube, as well as background playback and offline playback. But there’s another feature that sets YouTube Red apart from normal YouTube, and that is the original content that is only available on YouTube Red. The company announced today that the original content will start premiering on February 10th, a week from today.

A few of the originals that are premiering next week include content from AwesomenessTV with Dance Camp, Rooster Teeth who is doing Lazer Team, PewDiePie who is doing Scare PewDiePie, and finally Lilly Singh with A Trip to Unicorn Island – which was featured on the Jimmy Fallon Show recently. YouTube Red partnered up with some of the biggest stars on YouTube, paired them with some Hollywood producers to bring them their very own shows, or short films. It’s a great way to leverage the talent that YouTube already has, but also make YouTube bigger and better. Not to mention bringing in more money.

That’s not all though. YouTube Red is bringing in plenty more original content, that’s just it for the first batch. They will be working with more popular YouTubers, many of which have a bigger audience than some cable TV shows (pretty crazy when you think about it actually). YouTube Red is looking to rival the other streaming services out there, like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, and even HBO. While YouTube is already a pretty big streaming service, with the addition of these originals, it should get to be even bigger. YouTube Red isn’t yet available in every country, but it is available in most countries. Which you can check their Support page for more information on countries that it’s not yet available in. Of course, it’ll make its way to more countries as time goes on. They also note that availability of these originals are subject to change, so they may not be available forever, on YouTube.
