Android Wear, which is Google’s own operating system for wearables based off of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has been around for a little while now. And they have their own website. The site has been pretty decent. Giving you all kinds of information about Android Wear, as well as what smartwatches are available. Today, Google rolled out a new update to the Android Wear website, giving it much needed redesign. It’s also much more interactive this time around. At the bottom of the webpage, you can see what Android Wear smartwatches are available, as well as what stores they are available for purchase at. Which include the Google Store, Best Buy and Amazon.
If you hover over the watches near the top of the page, you will see the name of that watch appear. This is great because it allows users to look at watches and see which one they like and choose that one instead. Considering these all have, essentially, the same specs and features included. When talking about staying connected, you can hover over different apps (which include Hangouts, dialer, Google Calendar and Evernote in this example) and see what they will look like on the watch. They use Evernote for creating a shopping list, which works out pretty well, in all honesty.
Google also highlights fitness apps available for Android Wear. Of course, their Google Fit and Google Play Music are front-and-center here, not to mention Runkeeper and Strava. All of which are great for keeping track of your fitness each and every day. Android Wear can do quite a bit, and it’s clear that google is looking to show off everything it can do on their website. And so far they have done that quite well. Not only is the site much more interactive now, but it is also more intuitive, for those that might be a bit new to how Android Wear works. There are tons of great apps already available for Android Wear, including a bunch of watch faces. Additionally all of the watches (with the exception of the Sony smartwatch 3) can have their band swapped out with a standard watch band. There are currently 9 smartwatches available that run on Android Wear and all of them are listed on the new site.
