Best Buy Opening Pre-Orders for LG G5 on March 18th

After having the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge launch yesterday in nearly 60 countries. It’s almost time for LG to have its crack at launching their new flagship smartphone. The LG G5 which was also announced at Mobile World Congress last month, is set to go up for pre-orders at Best Buy next Friday, March 18th. There is still no concrete shipping date, although LG did say “early April” so it shouldn’t be all that much longer. LG is also giving away some accessories for those buy the LG G5. Including a free extra battery and charging cradle. The reason for this is to really drive the point home that they still have a removable battery, meanwhile every other manufacturer does not.

Those of you on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon will be able to pre-order the LG G5 from Best Buy as soon as March 18th. However, Best Buy does not sell T-Mobile smartphones, so unfortunately those on magenta won’t be able to get their pre-order in just yet. The LG G5 will be coming to all four carriers though, so you will be able to pre-order your LG G5 from your favorite carrier, directly. Those will likely open on March 18th as well, although that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

Additionally, pricing has not been announced for the LG G5. And the pre-order page at Best Buy’s website doesn’t hint at any pricing for this smartphone either. So we’ll have to sit back and wait and see what LG sets the pricing at. It’ll likely be cheaper than the Galaxy S7, which is nearly $700 right now, from the carriers at full retail price. We’ll likely see the LG G5 closer to the $600 mark. Which is similar to what we got last year with the LG G4.

The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch 2560×1440 resolution IPS display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage along with a microSD card slot, and it has a 16MP camera around back. The LG G4’s camera was pretty spectacular, and LG says that the G5’s camera is even better.
