When it comes to mobile games, those which can fit into the arcade and casual genres are some of the best fit for the platform because they’re easy to pick up and play for just a few minutes at a time, or you can really become addicted and play them for hours. Platformers are another great mobile game type as they’re simple to play and don’t require much in the way of controls, and Bouncy Pong fits both into the classic arcade, and platformer genres. This little hit from Bulky Pix takes the idea of pong and places in a platformer setting, putting a nice little spin on a retro favorite.
Instead of bouncing a pong ball back and forth between two paddles to score points, Bouncy Pong tasks you with reaching the end of each stage by tapping the screen to make the pong ball bounce up and down on various platforms to reach different parts of the level. The level goals are marked with a star and you’ll have to get to this point to move onto the next stage, but it won’t be as easy as it looks as there are not only pitfalls to jump across, but other obstacles as well like spikes, gears, and other things that will get in your way of progressing.
Landing on any of these obstacles will result in an immediate failure and having to restart the level, and while it isn’t an impossible task to get by these things, it will prove to be a little bit challenging at first. Bouncy Pong features some of the simplest controls you’ll find in just about any game, as there are only two buttons, one to tap to move the ball left and one to tap to move the ball right. There are a total of 50 levels to go through, and each level has multiple rooms you’ll need to complete before passing that level, with a total of 167 rooms altogether. Bulky Pix has also added in some replay value for those who appreciate achievements, and have added in skins that you can unlock for the ball. Bouncy Pong is free, and you can pick it up from the Play Store.
