We’ve been seeing tons of smartphones released in 2015, and some of those devices are quite compelling. Quite a few companies introduced their smartwatch and smartband offerings as well, but we haven’t seen that many tablets released last year, sadly. Tablet sales have been decreasing for a while now, and we’re seeing less and less such devices out in the market. Companies are trying to offer us different takes on a tablet by releasing various hybrid devices, and are hoping that will make tablet sales increase. Well, Chuwi is one such company, even though it’s not that well known, read on.
Chuwi has released the Chuwi Hi12 tablet a while back, a device we’ve already talked about. This tablet was actually announced in both Windows 10 and dual boot variants, and the second variant makes it even more compelling to some people, of course. The Windows 10 variant has been released already, and we’re still waiting to hear back from the company regarding the dual-boot model, but it seems like that variant is still not available out in the market. That being said, we did receive some official information from the company lately, in regards to their upcoming device, the Chuwi HiBook. Much like the Chuwi Hi12, the HiBook will also sport two operating systems (Windows and Android), but unlike the Hi12, this is actually a 2-in-1 hybrid offering. This tablet will ship with a snap-on keyboard, which will basically turn the device into a laptop. The Chuwi HiBook will be made out of metal, and will be released in April in Gray and Gold color variants. The USB Type-C port will be available here, and Windows 10 and Andriod 5.1 OS’ will come pre-installed on the tablet itself.
We did get the full specs of this tablet as well, so let’s see what else will it have to offer. The Chuwi HiBook will sport a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device will be fueled by the 5th generation Intel Atom X5-Z8300 SoC, which ships with the 8th generation Intel HD Graphics. The 6,600mAh battery will be included here, while the magnetic sensor will also be included here. We’ve already mentioned that the Type-C USB port will be included, and besides that, Chuwi will also include a micro USB port, micro HDMI port, and a TF card slot. The 5-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of this tablet, while a 2-megapixel shooter will be placed up front. The Chuwi HiBook will measure 262 x 167.5 x 8.5mm, while it will weight 550 grams.
