Gionee S8 Gets Certified By TENAA, Available Soon

Gionee is one of many Chinese smartphone manufacturers, and even though it might not be as popular as Huawei, ZTE or Xiaomi, Gionee is a well-known brand in Asia. This company has introduced their Elife E8 flagship phablet last year, as well as a number of big battery ‘Marathon’ devices. Well, last month, Gionee has actually unveiled an upper mid-range Gionee S8 smartphone, and it seems like the phone will be available in China soon, read on.

The Gionee S8 has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), which is usually one of the lasts steps Chinese companies make before they release a handset in the country. We already knew Gionee S8’s specifications, and its design, but this listing already confirmed what Gionee shared last month. The Gionee S8 is made out of metal, and it actually sports really compelling specifications. The device features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This phone is fueled by the mid-range MediaTek Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 16-megapixel snapper (PDAF included) can be found on the back of the Gionee S8, and there are also two SIM card slots available here. Interesting enough, Gionee has opted to include a pressure sensitive display here, despite the fact this is not exactly a high-end device. As far as software is concerned, the Gionee S8 will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s Amigo OS 3.2 on top of it. As part of that OS, Gionee has included a number of features, like the ones included in the camera. Gionee S8’s camera will be able to detect text from images.

The Gionee S8 looks very sleek as far as the design is concerned. It sports a physical home button below the display, and that button actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The bezel on the sides is very thin, and even though we’ve seen similarly designed devices already, Gionee S8 looks quite nice overall, though not everyone will like it, of course. You’ll also notice that there’s a new Gionee logo present on the back of this handset, and it is definitely more noticeable than the old one.
