LeEco (formerly Letv) managed to become a really interesting smartphone manufacturing company in less than a year. This company is actually quite well known in China, but they didn’t start manufacturing smartphones until April last year. LeEco has introduced three handsets back in April, and to this day there are five LeEco / Letv-branded smartphones out in the market. Well, LeEco is expected to introduce their next-gen devices next month, and we’ve seen tons of leaks already.
That being said, LeEco has recently released a couple of official teasers which more or less confirm the specs of the upcoming Le 2 handset. As you can see in the images down below, LeEco has not only confirmed that the Le 2 will be fueled by the Helio X20 SoC by MediaTek (which the company confirmed earlier as well, during MediaTek’s event), but will also sport 3GB of RAM on the inside. MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC will be one of the most used processors this year, tons of smartphone manufacturers already said that they’ll utilize MediaTek’s latest offering, and LeEco joined that group as well. Now, the Helio X20 still can’t measure up to the likes of the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890, at least not in raw power tested through benchmarks, but it will probably be a very capable SoC, and MediaTek’s flagship. In case you don’t know, this is a deca-core SoC with a tri-cluster core setup.
Now, as far as the Le 2 is concerned, rumors say that it will be made out of metal, and that it will sport a fingerprint scanner on the back, which was to be expected. The device itself leaked already, and if the leak is accurate, it will resemble its predecessors quite a bit. The phone will probably sport on-screen buttons, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to be available on this device out of the box with LeEco’s custom UI installed on top of it. The 21-megapixel snapper has been mentioned in various rumors, but it remains to be seen what sensor will LeEco use in the end. This smartphone is expected to arrive next month alongside the Le 2 and Le 2 Max, so stay tuned for that.
