Meizu's VP: This Is The Meizu PRO 6, Not The iPhone 7

Meizu did a truly great job with their PRO 5 flagship phablet which was announced back in September. This handset not only looks and feels like a true flagship, but it also sports an AMOLED panel, and is fueled by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC, which makes Meizu the only non-Samsung brand to use this processor. The Meizu PRO 5 has been available out in the market for quite some time now, and we’ve been seeing some Meizu PRO 6 leaks already. That’s not all though, the company and its execs have already confirmed that the device will ship with a pressure sensitive fullHD display, and that the phone will not be fueled by the Exynos 8890. On top of all that, Meizu’s execs confirmed yesterday (during MediaTek’s event) that the PRO 6 will be fueled by the all-new Helio X25 processor, which will also be exclusive to that phone for a couple of months.

Now, a number of Meizu’s execs had something to say in the last 24 hours, and the company’s CEO, Bai Jongxiang, was one of them. He was also present at MediaTek’s event yesterday, and has talked briefly about the Meizu PRO 6. He said that the company is designing this device to be the iPhone 7 killer, which actually sounds really exciting. He also added that the PRO 6 is definitely worth the wait, and he probably mentioned that because this phone is expected to arrive in late Q3 this year (probably September). That being said, Meizu’s VP, Li Nan, also had something to say. He has shared a Meizu PRO 6 real life teaser image on his official Weibo (Chinese social network) account. Now, he basically confirmed that the latest iPhone 7 leaks actually show off Meizu’s newest handset, not Apple’s upcoming iPhone. This handset actually sports a rather interesting design, it has a single antenna line on the very bottom fo the device, and it is made out of metal. Meizu’s VP said that the company has been working on this design for quite some time now, and simply wanted to clear the air and confirmed that the latest iPhone leaks were fake basically.

In addition to all this, the Meizu PRO 6 will probably ship with 4GB of RAM, even though the latest rumor claimed that the device will sport a whopping 6GB of RAM. This is not impossible, but it is highly unlikely. Anyhow, the Meizu PRO 6 probably won’t be announced until September, though the company might yet surprise us, stay tuned.
